00 I OK, so what did you do last weekend?
03 S Last weekend, erm, I went to ... I did quite a few things during the weekends,
08 firstly I went back to the primary school that I ... taught for the past three weeks ...
13 to settle some s-- ... some things with the ... the teachers there ... er and to finish up ...
19 marking also ... erm after that I came back to NIE to do ...
24 some library research ... till about three-thirty ... three-thirty, yah ...
30 then later on in the evening ... er went to the UK funfair ...
36 at Jurong East ... mmm ... it was, it was interesting, but very expensive ... erm
44 the fun, the entrance fee is cheap, it's only two dollars ... I guess that's cheap enough,
50 but then the ... the the games and the rides are all very expensive,
54 it's liked erm ... the cheapest ride I think is about three tokens
59 that will be about ... eh, two-fifty per tokens, then about seven-fifty, wah,
67 so it's pretty expensive ... for a ride, so in the end ... didn't didn't try out the ride
72 as well, initially want to take the ferris wheel ... but then ...
76 the queue is very long, and too expensive ((laughs)) so didn't, didn't take any ...
81 spent about two hours there looking at the things ... very crowded ... mmm ...
87 yah, then Sunday ... tried to do some reading up ...
91 of erm ... the grammar modules, the one on functional functional grammar ...
98 yah took me the whole Sunday ... but didn't, but didn't manage to to to to ... er ...
106 er how to say, finish the ... the readings ah ... mmm yup.
112 I OK, so how was your three weeks experience teaching at a primary school?
118 S Er ... three weeks ... er ... OK I guess, erm ... feel that um ... how to say ah ... er ... er didn't ...
135 a lot of things to do lah, so didn't really enjoy the three weeks there ((laughs))
141 I guess it's because I know that I'm only be there for three weeks ... and erm ...
146 yah, so um .... mmm ... er ... so don't know whether to um ...
154 to put all my heart in there or ... or or or not, and then, erm ... yah ...
163 then ... what else ... three weeks experience, er ... the class was all right,
171 the the basically it's a good combination ah, of um um of children, the ... ba-- the
179 there are a few very good one, fast one, and there are extreme, there are also extreme slow ones,
185 yeah, but basically the class ... is made up of ... a lot of, I mean kids from ... um
192 broken families ... yah which require quite a lot of attention,
196 not just academically, but um in other areas ... yah,
201 but I don't think I ... I I ... am able to give them that much in three weeks hor ... mm ...
207 So hopefully the teacher who took over ... the class would be able to provide more support ...
215 for these children ... mm, yah ... other than that, erm, colleagues-wise,
223 I enjoy teaching in erm Princess E ... because erm most of them are very friendly,
229 er the older teachers are pretty helpful, yah ... they are just like, mm ...
234 like like your your foster parents like that ... yah ... they're willing to share and er
240 tell you about teaching and things like that ... yeah, the younger ones, all all right also lah,
245 I mean I have quite a few ... friends over there who I know ... mmm ...
253 yah, but I think currently the school that I'm posted to, Princess Elizabeth ...
259 I mean, the school has a lot of programmes going on this year
263 that's why erm ... that's why, erm I think most of the teacher who's working there now
268 feels that they are very tied down with things other than teaching ...
272 yup, then um, like um they just had ... they are going to have er E-topia,
278 which is an open house, um IT open house, and then later on they're going to have
282 their fiftieth anniversary ... er celebration at the end of the year, in November,
287 so there's a lot of things that the teachers need to be involved in, to prepare for these events, yup.
